The Space
This upstairs bedroom has sweeping views of the Riata Ranch and the beautiful Sierra Foothills. There is no TV in this room, but internet is available for free. Before booking, understand that this is a bedroom and if you bring 6 other guests, you must be alright with sharing a bedroom and bathroom with that many people. The private bathroom is just outside the bedroom door. Riata Ranch is very proud of our remarkable client reviews and encourage you to check them out. Riata Ranch offers perhaps the most unique American experience of your vacation. Book a guided horseback ride for your family. Inquire during booking.
Guest Access
Guests have their own private bathroom and access to the large dining room with beautiful views of the landscape, living room with huge rock fireplace, satellite television, and Riata's huge barn. Adjoining the living room with a bar area, is what Riata considers the shining star of its ranch house, the spectacular kitchen. It's spacious and well equipped for a professional chef with an impressive 6 burner Wolf Commercial Stove/Oven, griddle, and broiler, large handmade butcher block, access to our cupboards for spices and incidentals, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and about every kitchen gadget known to mankind. It has even been the set of cooking shows and has a perfect record of 5 star reviews from every professional chef that has used it. The side kitchen window has a view of the courtyard and breathtaking foothills to the south, while the front window has a picturesque view of our horses, bottom pasture and river where bear and deer can sometimes be seen. The picturesque outdoor courtyard comes with a fire pit, BBQ grills, and scenic sitting and dining areas.
NOTE - FIRE DANGER IS VERY REAL HERE. Riata will let guests know if they can have a campfire or not. Do not ever throw out burning material as it will probably start a wildfire.
Want to make it a guys trip? It's the perfect place for your sports watching getaway weekend. Guests can easily see both large TV's from the kitchen and living room which are on different satellite receivers. That means during football season guests can watch two different Sunday Ticket games of their choice on both TV's at once and prepare a fantastic meal for their family and friends. Baseball season is also complimentary with our DirectTV-MLB Extra Innings package! Catering, prepared meals, and professional chef services upon request for an additional fee.
This is a 41 acre ranch and guests will have access to just about all of it. With prior approval, guests may take a hike, at their own risk, in Riata's pastures that are home to its cattle and horses. They are used to people, but as with any animal, keep a safe distance. Hikes to the highest hills of the ranch offer spectacular views of the Redstone Valley and surrounding ridge lines.

POLICY ON SMALL CHILDREN, TODDLERS, AND THE PEOPLE YOU BRING
Riata Ranch do not recommend that small, undisciplined kids or toddlers stay at its ranch. Here's why: This is a real working ranch with lots of things that kids may not be used to. Things like livestock, electric fences, tractor implements, and other things could be mistaken as playground equipment that could be damaged. More importantly, your child could be seriously injured. Riata Ranch's ranch house is not child proof. It has nice things on tables, cleaners that are accessible in cabinets, etc. If a guest breaks it, they buy it. If a guest has young disciplined children that mind them, then it may be discussed when a guest make a reservation request. If Riata accepts them, then it is the guest is responsible for their children's behavior and damage they may cause. Also, know that if they disturb the peace with the owners or our other guests that a guest may be asked to leave out of consideration of others without refund. So please consider this carefully before booking a stay. Should a guests' family not be as good fit staying at Riata Ranch, guests may still book a trail ride. Riata is one of the top public horseback riding concessions in the area with professional guides and gentle horses.

Additional Rules
Guests are renting the upstairs room which comes with its own private bathroom. It is located upstairs to the left. Riata asks that you only use that bathroom and not the one downstairs as that one is dedicated to the lower room rental. When showering please turn on exhaust fan and open the window a bit to allow steam to escape. Riata's delicious water comes from our own personal well on the ranch. Riata appreciates it if guests limit your water use and shower time.
Electricity rates in California are ridiculously high. Help us keep our prices down by turning off lights and adjusting the air conditioning/heating thermostat temperature as you would in your own home.
Get permission before you enter a pasture with livestock in it. If you open a gate, close the gate. Enter at your own risk.
The thin wire fencing around Riata's pastures is electrified. DO NOT TOUCH IT! If you do, it won't kill you, but you will certainly never forget it.
Riata Ranch rents out another room in its ranch house so common sense goes a long way around here. Riata's cowboys and cowgirls are a fun bunch but have very little patience for out of control kids and/or adults. Guest's common sense and consideration would be appreciated too. :)
No Pets, our dogs run the show around here. They are friendly and run loose on the ranch. Please drive slow and keep an eye out for them.
Smoking is allowed outside only in designated smoking areas. During the summer fire danger is real, please use your common sense.
Riata expect its guests to treat its home like their own.
Guests may use our phone to make domestic calls if you don't get cell service. AT&T and Verizon are the only cell networks here. WiFi is available and free.
Quieter time begins at approximately 11pm but we emphasize that guests keep their voices low all of the time because this is the wilderness and voices carry a long way. Relax and decompress - that's why you are here right?
We reserve the right to refuse service at any time. Only registered guests can be on property at any time unless prior permission is granted by hosts.
Finally, it seems that some past guests and guests of guests have helped themselves to a few of Riata's owners personal effects in the house. Whoever books the room is 100% responsible for the people they bring on our property so select your traveling partners wisely. Riata Ranch is home to cowboys and cowgirls and like John Wayne, it doesn't tolerate thieves, liars, or otherwise. Riata's housekeeper inventories everything after you leave and if something is missing, our resident deputy sheriff will be paying you a visit. Enjoy Riata's property but respect it as you would your own. Thank you in advance.

The Neighborhood of Three Rivers
Guests will enjoy star-filled moonlit nights here at Riata Ranch. The ranch is about 900 feet above sea level so snow is not typical. Riata Ranch is a real working horse and cattle ranch. There are only about 12 dwellings in the Redstone Valley and the closest neighbor is about quarter of a mile away. The ranch is on a dirt road that can be rather rough at times. Guests will need a vehicle. Please drive slow to keep the dust down and watch out for animals, especially our friendly dogs as they run loose on the ranch. Besides the occasional car, all guests will hear is the river, cattle, horses, and wildlife which include black bear, deer, bobcats, coyotes, and more. Guests may watch them all from the safety and comfort of our front porch or take stroll down the road.
DO NOT BE APPROACH WILDLIFE. Amazingly, tourists try to do it all of the time in the park. It's dangerous, stupid, not good for the animals, and could be very hazardous to your health. Your camera has a zoom, please use it.
The entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is about 12 minutes away and home to the largest trees in the world including the General Sherman Tree which is the largest living thing on planet earth and 850 miles of hiking trails. It's about a 3 hour round trip to the General Sherman Tree and Giant Forest. It's also home to the highest peak in the lower 48 states, Mt Whitney, and Kings Canyon which the deepest canyon in the lower 48 states.Lake Kaweah is also minutes away and offers boat rentals, fishing, and water sports. The Kaweah River is the steepest in the lower 48 states and is world renowned for it kayaking and rafting in the spring when conditions permit. See our guidebook for professional guides to book your trip. In the winter, the park requires that you have snow tire chains in your possession to enter. Guests can either buy them at their local auto parts or rent them here in town. Riata recommends buying them before you get here. See the park website for up to date info and road conditions.
